Questions people actually ask.
The short answers — with the long ones one tap away.
How accurate is this online stopwatch?+
It uses performance.now() for high-resolution timing, which provides sub-millisecond precision in modern browsers. Display updates run at 60fps via requestAnimationFrame, so the displayed time is accurate to the millisecond.
Does this stopwatch work offline?+
Yes. Once the page is loaded, everything runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. No internet connection is needed after the initial load.
What is the difference between lap and split time?+
Lap time is the time for the current segment (time since the last lap). Split time is the total elapsed time at the moment you recorded the lap. Both are shown in the lap list.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts?+
Yes. Press Space to start or stop, L to record a lap, and R to reset. Shortcuts work as long as the focus isn't inside an input field.
Is there a limit to how many laps I can record?+
No, there's no hard limit. The lap list scrolls, and you can record as many laps as you need. Performance stays smooth even with hundreds of laps.
Does the stopwatch keep running if I switch tabs?+
Yes. The timer uses timestamps rather than counting frames, so it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background. The display updates when you return.
Can I copy or download my lap times?+
Yes. Use the copy button to copy all lap times to your clipboard, or the download button to save them as a .txt file.
Is this stopwatch free to use?+
Yes, it's completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no limit on how many times you use it.
