Questions people actually ask.
The short answers — with the long ones one tap away.
How do I remove metadata from a PDF with this tool?+
Add one or more PDF files, choose which metadata fields to strip, then tap Clean Metadata. Your cleaned PDF downloads straight to your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
No. The metadata removal happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your PDFs never leave your device, which also means it works without an internet connection once the page has loaded.
Which metadata fields can I remove?+
You can strip Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, CreationDate and ModDate from the document information dictionary, and the entire XMP metadata stream. You can also selectively keep or clear each field.
What is XMP metadata and should I remove it?+
XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) is an XML-based metadata format embedded in many PDFs. It can contain author, software, and copyright details that duplicate the standard fields. For privacy, it's usually best to strip it completely.
Will removing metadata affect the quality of my PDF?+
No. Pages are copied directly from the original files, so text, images, and formatting stay exactly as they were — nothing is re-rendered or compressed. Only the metadata is changed.
Can I batch clean multiple PDF files at once?+
Yes. Add multiple PDFs and the tool will clean each one according to your chosen settings. Each file is processed and downloaded individually.
Is this PDF metadata remover free to use?+
Yes, it's completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no watermark added to your cleaned files.
