File Hash Checker

Verify file integrity — calculate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and CRC32 hashes right in your browser.

FREE · PRIVATE · NO UPLOAD
01 · THE CHECKER

Drop a file, get every hash instantly.

Choose which algorithms to compute, drop or browse for a file, and compare the result against a reference hash. Everything runs locally — your file never leaves your device.

Drop a file here
or click to browse — works with files of any size

Paste the hash published by the download source. The tool will compare it against every computed hash.

02 · HOW TO USE

Four steps to a verified file.

No manual required — here's the entire flow.

STEP 01

Pick algorithms

Toggle MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 or CRC32. SHA-256 is a good default for security checks; MD5 and SHA-1 are useful for legacy compatibility.

STEP 02

Drop your file

Drag and drop any file onto the zone, or click to browse. The tool reads the file locally and shows its name and size.

STEP 03

Add a reference hash

Paste the expected hash into the reference field — from a download page, release notes or a colleague — to compare automatically.

STEP 04

Calculate & verify

Tap Calculate Hashes. Every selected hash appears on the right with a match or mismatch badge, and you can copy or download the results.

03 · WHAT YOU GET

Built for real verification, not just hashing.

The details that make a file hash checker trustworthy, without ever leaving your browser.

Runs on your device

No upload · No account · No storage

Every hash is computed locally using the Web Crypto API and a fast CRC32 implementation. Nothing is logged, saved, or sent anywhere — ever.

Multi-algorithm output

MD5 · SHA-1 · SHA-256 · SHA-512 · CRC32

Toggle any combination of algorithms and see every computed hash side by side, each with a one-click copy button.

Reference comparison

Paste once · Auto-compare · Match indicator

Drop in the expected hash and the tool checks it against every algorithm, showing a clear match or mismatch badge.

04 · FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

The short answers — with the long ones one tap away.

What is a file hash and why should I check it?+

A file hash is a fixed-length string generated from a file's contents. Even a tiny change in the file produces a completely different hash. Comparing hashes confirms the file downloaded correctly and hasn't been tampered with.

Which hash algorithms does this tool support?+

It calculates MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and CRC32. SHA-256 and SHA-512 are the recommended choices for security; MD5 and SHA-1 are still useful for quick integrity checks and legacy compatibility.

Are my files uploaded to a server?+

No. Every hash is computed locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API and a lightweight CRC32 implementation. Your files never leave your device — nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.

How do I verify a downloaded file?+

Paste the hash published by the download source into the reference field, drop the file into the tool, and check the match indicator. If the computed hash matches the reference, the file is intact.

Why do MD5 and SHA-1 still exist if they're considered weak?+

They're fast and widely supported. Many download pages and legacy systems still publish MD5 or SHA-1 checksums. For security-critical verification, prefer SHA-256 or SHA-512.

Can I hash multiple files at once?+

This tool processes one file at a time. For batches, hash each file individually — the computed hashes can be copied or downloaded as a text file.

Does this tool store or remember any file I hash?+

No. Nothing is saved, logged or synced anywhere. Once you refresh or close the page, all computed hashes and file data are gone for good.

Is this file hash checker free?+

Yes, it's completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no limit on how many files you hash.
