Set your key format, generate instantly.
Choose a format, set the length, and generate cryptographically secure keys for APIs, tokens, or secrets. Everything runs locally with your browser's secure random number source — nothing is ever sent anywhere.
Any character typed here is removed from the pool before a key is built.
Four steps, a key you can trust.
No manual required — here's the entire flow.
Choose a format
Pick hex for compact URL-safe keys, base64 for maximum entropy per character, or alphanumeric for maximum compatibility.
Set your options
Pick a length between 8 and 128 characters, toggle advanced rules like URL-safe or ambiguous exclusions, and add custom exclusions if needed.
Generate
Tap Generate Keys to get a fresh batch. Not happy with the results? Tap Regenerate to try again with the same settings.
Copy or download
Copy a single key, copy the whole batch, or download it as a text file. Entropy and estimated strength are shown alongside.
Built for real security, not just randomness.
The details that make a secret key generator trustworthy, without ever leaving your browser.
Runs on your device
Every key is generated locally using the Web Crypto API. Nothing is logged, saved, or sent anywhere — ever.
Entropy & strength
Every result comes with a plain-language strength rating so you know exactly how tough your key is to brute-force.
Fine-grained control
Choose hex, base64, or alphanumeric, exclude ambiguous characters, enforce URL-safety, or block specific characters.
Questions people actually ask.
The short answers — with the long ones one tap away.
How do I generate a secret key with this tool?+
Choose a key format (hex, base64, or alphanumeric), set the length, select how many keys you need, and tap Generate Keys. Your results appear on the right, each with its own copy button.
Are my secret keys sent to a server?+
No. Every key is generated locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API, and nothing is ever uploaded, logged or stored. Closing or refreshing the page clears everything.
What's the difference between hex, base64, and alphanumeric keys?+
Hex keys use only 0-9 and A-F, making them compact and URL-safe. Base64 keys use a wider character set including uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and some symbols — more entropy per character. Alphanumeric keys are restricted to letters and numbers for maximum compatibility.
What does entropy mean for a secret key?+
Entropy measures how many possible combinations a key could have, in bits — more bits means more guesses needed to crack it. For API keys and tokens, aim for at least 128 bits of entropy.
Can I exclude characters that look alike, like 0, O, 1 and l?+
Yes. Turn on Exclude ambiguous characters to drop easily confused characters, or list your own characters to avoid in the custom exclusions field.
Can I generate more than one secret key at a time?+
Yes. Choose a quantity of 1, 5, 10 or 20 and every key in the batch is generated independently with the same settings, so you can pick the one you like or copy them all.
Does this tool store or remember any key I generate?+
No. Nothing is saved, logged or synced anywhere. Once you leave or refresh the page, every generated key is gone for good — copy or save the ones you want to keep.
Is this secret key generator free to use?+
Yes, it's completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no limit on how many keys you generate.
